As we gear up for another academic year, the Environmental Humanities Initiative at UVa is looking forward to another exciting schedule of interdisciplinary conversations and events. First and foremost, we are preparing for Convergences, a week long slate of events with the Environmental Resilience Institute that will bring artists, humanities scholars, and scientists into sustained conversation about environmental resilience: resilience in the wake of hurricanes, in the changing Arctic, on our own Eastern Shore, or in light of species extinction. For the full slate of events, see our events page and the official Convergences website.
As part of our support for these events, this page will feature written responses from UVa grad students about each of the four major Convergences events. We hope these blog posts will invite further conversation and engagement around these issues and the Environmental Humanities in general, and we welcome your participation and commentary on this page as well as social media using the hashtag #ConvergeUVA.
